Obituary: Mellick, Dennis “Butch”

Age 72

MELLICK, Dennis “Butch” (Age 72) Of Plummer, Idaho passed away May 17, 2014 at the North Idaho Hospice House in Hayden.

Dennis was born June 5, 1941 in Spokane, WA He was the only child of Richard “Red” and Eva Mellick.

He was raised in Worley, ID and graduated high school there in 1959.

His early years were spent working in the St. Maries, ID area.

He later moved to Western Washington where he worked on Boeing 747s and finally ended up at the Anacortes Safeway store where he retired.

After his retirement, he moved back to North Idaho to be closer to his family.

He enjoyed many things such as playing pinochle and watching game shows, but his favorite activity was camping and riding snowmobiles and ATVs with his family and friends.

He would often go camping with his son-in-law Greg Dretke for a month at a time.

He is survived by five children: Cindy Dretke.

Bill Mellick, Brenda Morris, and Scott Mellick, all of Worley and Stuart Mellick of Athol.

He is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Although he battled health issues most of his life, he never complained.

He had a huge heart and would help anyone.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23rd, at the Worley Community Church.

Burial will be at the Worley Cemetery.

The family requests that anyone wanting to remember Dennis make a donation to the Hospice House of North Idaho.
