Obituary: Wheat, David N.

Age 61

WHEAT, David N. (Age 61) David Newton Wheat passed away May 17th, near the Spokane Golf and Country Club as a result of an accident.

Dave was born on November 28,1952, and lovingly raised by Harold and Dorothy Wheat in Helena, MT.

Dave graduated from Helena High School in 1971.

After graduating, Dave attended the University of Montana, and was a member of the US Army ROTC and the Sigma Nu fraternity.

Go Griz!!!!!

After college, Dave served in the US Army as a recruiter working in Jacksonville, FL.

He entered the insurance industry working for Safeco Insurance and held various positions in both marketing and sales.

In 1999, Dave established Wheat & Associates Insurance, a successful independent agency here in Spokane with the love of his life, Tena.

Dave was a well-respected member of the community and was former President of Independent Insurance Agents Association of Spokane County, a board member for the State Insurance Association and active member of the Spokane Executives Association.

First and foremost, Dave was a family man.

He was larger than life and left a lasting impression on all that he met.

Good or bad, he wanted to make sure you remembered him.

An avid golfer, he was happiest on the fairway with a bourbon poured and cigar in hand.

Dave fought a hard battle with Prostate Cancer in his last years, and his legacy is defined by the strength and fortitude he displayed throughout this time.

Dave’s most lasting legacy perhaps though, was his role as the International Director and Founder of “Man School”; an exclusive gentlemen’s club dedicated to preserving male independence against the formidable forces of femininity.

He never met a stranger, and was a great friend to many.

His quick, dry wit, and unfiltered humor, will never be forgotten.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Tena Wheat.

His children, Zac (Vanessa) Wheat, and Cassidy Wheat.

Stepchildren, Sean (Louise) Perry, Brendon Nepon, Taylor Nepon, and Aaron Carlson.

His beloved dog Paisley.

His Grandchildren - Noah Cook, Sienna Perry, Emery Wheat, Mason Perry, Tucker Wheat, Presley Wheat, and his brother Dr. James (Nancy) Lenhart.

Services to remember Dave will be golf themed, and the family asks that you wear your most flamboyant golf attire in his celebration.

Memorial Service will be at Turning Point Open Bible Church, 11911 N. Division at 1pm on May 28, 2014.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are to be made in Dave’s name to the American Cancer Society, 920 N. Washington, Spokane, WA.

Dave, if I hadn’t found you, I’d still be looking for you!!

I Love You, Tena
