Obituary: Faraca, Renard A. “Ray”

Age 97

FARACA, Renard A.

“Ray” Left the bonds of the Earth on May 1, 2014 into the loving care of his Lord Jesus Christ.

Born in Kellogg, Idaho May 22, 1917, his family moved to Spokane when he was at a young age.

He graduated from North Central High School receiving a baseball scholarship to Modesto Junior College in California.

Upon his return to Spokane he attended Gonzaga University until he joined the Army Air Corps during World War II being stationed in England.

After his honorable discharge, he returned to Spokane.

As he raised his two sons with his wife Dorothy, he was known as an honest person with high integrity, who would help anyone at any time.

He introduced his sons to many sports, but especially to his passion “golf.”

He was a great student of the game and passed on the love of golf to his children.

He played well into his 80s until his health prevented him from continuing to play the game he loved so much.

His golf stories will be missed by all who had the opportunity to sit and visit with Ray while sharing a meal or at any occasion that included his family and friends.

He is survived by his sister, Victoria Glass of Houston, TX; his sons, David (DeeLayne) of Patterson, CA and Patrick (Kayleen) of Tacoma, WA; his grandchildren: Matthew of Seattle, WA, Nina of San Diego, CA, Christopher (Nicole) of Tacoma, WA, and Paul (Kellie) of Bellevue, WA; and all of his nephews and nieces who he remained very close to throughout his life.

His love of family and friends will always be remembered.

If you were family or friend, it was for life.

That motivated Ray during his time with us on this earth.

Renard was a widower three times, preceded in death by Dorothy, Aurelia, and Marie.

There will be a Rosary held on Friday, May 30th, 2014 at 7:00pm at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division.
