Obituary: Watson, Eric Steven

WATSON, Eric Steven (Age 42) Died peacefully surrounded by his family and close friends on May 16th in Denver, Colorado.

Eric died from medical complications of a stroke he suffered six days earlier.

Eric was born and raised in Pullman, Washington.

He was the beloved son of Steve and Kathy Watson and the little brother to his sister Lisa.

Eric was above all a devoted father.

He shared his passion for life with his children.

His humor, spirit, and love of life will live on, in them.

Eric attended Franklin Elementary, Lincoln Middle, and Pullman High School.

His 12 years in the Pullman schools built several deep and life lasting friendships.

Eric graduated in the class of 1990.

After high school Eric lived in Orlando, Florida, Seattle, WA, Omaha, Nebraska, eventually settling in Denver, CO in 1997.

Denver is where Eric started his family, began his successful career in construction management, and lived the remainder of his life.

Eric had many dear friends with him there.

As a young child the Watson family spent a year in Africa.

This experience shaped Eric and his love of African art and history remained with him through his life.

Eric lived his life with passion for the people he loved.

His humor, charisma, and charm, were an unmistakable force to those around him.

Eric was a natural entertainer, comedian, and musician.

These qualities fueled his interest in acting, broadcasting, and music.

Eric was an artist.

He often had a camera in his hand.

He not only captured the essence of the people he loved, but also the world around him.

He had an intense appreciation of nature, as well as architecture, which he captured beautifully on film.

Eric is survived by his children Owen Steven, Olivia Rose, and Charles “Charlie” Steven, of Denver, CO. His mother Kathy Watson, of Pullman, WA, his sister Lisa Watson, of San Diego, California, and several close friends.

Eric was preceeded in death by his father Steve Watson, his grandmother Nila Benshoof, and his great-grandmother Mayme Lewis.

A memorial service and celebration of Eric’s life will be June 21st at 11:00 AM at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman, WA.

Concluding services will follow at the Pullman Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Whitman Senior Living Center’s Coca Cola Room.
