Central Valley driver reports vehicle passed school bus

The Liberty Lake Police Department received a complaint from a school bus driver on Friday that a vehicle had passed the bus while it was stopped with its red flashing lights on and stop sign extended at Country Vista Drive and Wright.

School bus drivers have the authority to fill out an affidavit of such violations and forward it to police so a ticket can be written, said police Chief Brian Asmus. The bus driver must include the car’s license plate number and description, but in this case the vehicle description did not match the license plate number given, Asmus said.

“We can’t issue a ticket unless everything matches,” he said.

It’s not uncommon for the department to hear from Central Valley School District bus drivers, Asmus said. “We get a couple of those a month from the school district,” he said.
