Agreed A person familiar with the negotiations says Cuban outfielder Yasmany Tomas is in the process of agreeing to a $68.5 million, six-year contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Tomas, 24, hit .375 (6 for 16) for Cuba with two homers and five RBIs in last year’s World Baseball Classic.

• Reliever Ernesto Frieri and the Tampa Bay Rays have agreed to an $800,000, one-year contract. The 29-year-old right-hander was 1-4 with a 7.34 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings over 48 games this year for the Los Angeles Angels and Pittsburgh.

Increased Major League Baseball’s minimum salary is rising to $507,500 next year from $500,000. The sport’s collective bargaining agreement called for a cost-of-living adjustment based on the yearly increase through October of the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers, rounded to the nearest $500.

Died Former Montreal Canadiens forward Gilles Tremblay, who played on four Stanley Cup-winning teams in the 1960s, has died. He was 75. He played his entire nine-year career with Montreal.

Recovering Four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt remains in a Houston hospital, more than two weeks after he had triple-bypass surgery on his heart. Anne Fornoro, the spokesman for Foyt’s two-car IndyCar team, said in a release there was a post-surgical complication, but that has now been resolved.

Entered Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner California Chrome is going to try turf for the first time. The 3-year-old colt was entered in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby, where he will face five rivals in 1 1/8-mile race Saturday at Del Mar, California.

Invited The St. Louis Blues, who’ve lost goalie Brian Elliott indefinitely with a lower body injury, announced via its web site that Martin Brodeur has been invited to practice. Brodeur is the NHL leader in wins (688) and shutouts (124) and won three Stanley Cups with New Jersey.
