Obituary: Mayer, Maryetta B.

Age 95

MAYER, Maryetta B. June 11, 1919 ~ October 22, 2014 Maryetta B. Mayer passed away on October 22, 2014, in Atlanta, Georgia.

She was 95.

Maryetta was born on June 11, 1919 in Kootenai, Idaho to her parents, Karyn and John Brodkord.

Maryetta did her nurses training at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lewiston, Idaho.

She was awarded her RN in 1941.

Maryetta enlisted in the Army through the Red Cross and served our country during WWII.

She was a part of the Army Nurse Corps serving in the South Pacific.

After the war Maryetta returned to Idaho met her husband, Bert.

They lived in several western states before retiring and settling in Spokane, Washington where they lived for more than 20 years.

During her career Maryetta worked in hospital settings and doctor’s offices.

While in Los Angeles, California she earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Pepperdine University.

Maryetta is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Malcolm Roseman, Atlanta, Georgia, daughter Christy Binge, Wenatchee, Washington; two granddaughters Alaina Binge, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Sarah Binge, Wenatchee, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert; her sisters Eleanor, Ruth, Katherine and Hazel.

Funeral Mass to be held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Spokane, Washington on Saturday, October 25, 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint, Idaho, at 2:30.

A Vigil will be held in the Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel, Sandpoint, at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Memorials may be made to the International Waldenstrom’s Foundation, Sarasota Florida.
