Obituary: Perry, Kenneth R.

Age 83

PERRY, Kenneth R. 12.28.1930 - 9.2.2014 Ken was the oldest of three sons from Harry and Helen Perry.

He graduated from North Central High School in January 1949.

In 1947, Ken’s parents began a company, later to be known as Central Saw Works, in the family’s home garage.

In 1977, Central Saw Works moved from Sprague and Division to its current location at 410 N. Freya.

Ken employed all of his children in the family business.

Dad had the foresight to incorporate carbide tips to the saw blades and soon the business flourished.

Dad owned and operated Central Saw Works, Inc. for over 40 years.

In 1990, he sold it to his two sons and Central Saw Works became a third generation company.

Dad still worked there, passing his knowledge and expertise until he officially retired in 2010.

Dad enjoyed fishing from the tiniest pond to the Great Pacific Ocean when he landed a 10‘4” Marlin!

He also enjoyed camping, working with wood and spending time with his family and friends.

Dad always showed us the Patience of Job, and the Wisdom of Solomon.

He was the kindest man you would have ever had the privilege of knowing.

He taught his family there were always two sides to every story and to get all of the facts before making a decision.

Ken is survived by Wife of 24 years, Betty Perry; his younger brother, Harry (Ione); daughters, Pamela L. Nickerson (Mark), Patricia L. McDonald; sons, Kenneth F. Perry and Robert O. Perry; stepchildren, Doug (Pam) Bennedict, Don Bennedict, Maureen (Bill) Carl, Kevin (Heather) Bennedict, Valerie Perry and Byron Perry; numerous grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Perry; and his parents, Harry A. and Helen J. Perry.

Ken’s funeral is scheduled for Friday, September 12, 2014, at 11:00am at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave., Spokane, WA.
