Obituary: Smith, Laurence “Larry”

Age 82

SMITH, Laurence “Larry” November 6, 1930- July 5, 2013 Laurence (Larry) entered peacefully into rest at his home in San Ramon, CA following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Waterville, WA, Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He graduated from Ephrata High School in 1949 and from Washington State University as a civil engineer in 1958, after serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He retired from Chevron Corp. where he spent his entire professional career.

He was an avid bridge director and player, who was an ACBL silver life master.

Larry loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife and best friend of 47 years, Mary Jane; and his son, Stuart.

He is survived by his daughters, Valerie Smith of Norfolk, VA and Laurie Moyer (Paul) of Spokane, WA; daughter-in-law, Sheri Smith of Livermore; grandchildren, Hunter Smith and Geoffrey and Victoria Moyer.

He will be deeply missed by his family and cherished friends.
