Moses Lake’s Nathan Ball gave the Chiefs a reason to celebrate all the way home with a 3-yard touchdown run in overtime to seal a 19-16 nonleague football victory over Lewis and Clark at Joe Albi Stadium on Friday night.

“It felt really good, actually,” Ball said. “Our (offensive) line did most of the work. The defense stopped them a lot tonight so this feels great.”

Following a Moses Lake (2-0) fumble, Taylor Duncan put the Tigers (0-2) on the board first with a 12-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter.

The Chiefs responded with 3:06 left in the first quarter when Ball scored on a 27-yard run. Moses Lake’s senior running back racked up 75 yards and his team’s only scores.

Both teams missed field-goal attempts in the second quarter for a 7-7 halftime tie.

Moses Lake kicker Rehn Reiley broke the deadlock with 8:40 left in the third quarter with a 42-yard field goal.

Lewis and Clark quarterback Jordan Summers connected with Ty Thompson on a 55-yard bomb down the left sideline to give the Tigers the lead with 8:39 left in the fourth quarter. LC’s point-after attempt rattled off the wrong side of the posts to make it 13-10.

Jason Summers picked off Moses Lake quarterback Easton Castro with 5:29 left in the game. The Tigers ran the clock down and got into the red zone, but failed to score.

The Chiefs got the ball back with 2:16 left and went with an end-around pass from wide receiver Isaiah Thomas to Castro for a 36-yard gain to help set up Reiley for the game-tying, 49-yard field goal with 46 seconds left.

LC’s Adam Thompson kicked a 29-yard field goal in overtime but Bell came through with his game-winning run.

Duncan finished with 34 carries for 176 yards to pace the Lewis and Clark ground attack. Jordan Summers passed for 187 yards with Thompson collecting 114 yards receiving, including another 55-yard reception in the second quarter.
