Obituary: Krabbenhoft, August E. Jr.

Age 79

KRABBENHOFT, August E. Jr. (Age 78) August passed away September 6, 2014 in Spokane, WA.

He was born in Iowa City, IA September 15, 1935 to August E. Krabbenhoft Sr. and Elisabeth A. Krabbenhoft (Erickson).

He spent his childhood in Des Moines, IA until 1950 when he moved to Washington State.

After working for Lehigh Portland Cement/LaFarge for 33 years he retired to go back to school.

He also obtained his commercial truck driving certificate.

August drove for nearly 24 years, mostly for Arlo Huber & Son.

Known by many as “Auggie” or “Junior”.

A man with an enormous work ethic, he was not afraid to tackle any project, big or small, for friends and family.

August’s hobbies included auto mechanics, elk hunting, fishing, target shooting, photography and traveling each Summer with family.

August is survived by his children Don Krabbenhoft of Spokane, Betty Stapleton (Bruce) of Monroe, WA, Cathy Zwanzig (Erich) of Advance, NC, and Brian Tozier (Linda) of Spokane; his two brothers Robert and Ed Krabbenhoft of Metaline Falls, WA; as well as his grandchildren Jacob, Jackie, Keith, Katy, Cyrus, Cody and numerous nieces and nephews.

August is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Bonnie L. Krabbenhoft, Baby Krabbenhoft, parents August E. and Elisabeth Krabbenhoft and Alexander Krabbenhoft.

August was cremated and buried alongside Bonnie and Baby Krabbenhoft during a private ceremony at Riverside Cemetery in Ione, WA on Saturday, September 13, 2014.
