Obituary: Littlefield, Joyce

LITTLEFIELD, Joyce Joyce Littlefield, wife, mother, sister and friend, is now in a place of peace.

She died Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Rose Garden Estates in Ritzville, WA.

She was 84 years old.

Joyce was born June 3, 1930 in Greybull, WY, to parents Homer and Adelia Lynam.

She was raised on a farm in Byron, WY along with nine brothers and sisters.

She left the small town upon graduation and moved to Portland, OR to live with her sister and work in the big city.

In December of 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Littlefield, who was on leave from the navy and began their active life together.

Joyce was a homemaker, raising four children, acting as PTA president, bowling, golfing and playing bridge.

She volunteered in the schools, taught bowling to young people in Salem, OR and served on the board of the National Women’s‘ Bowling Association.

When the last of her children were in high school, Joyce went to work as the secretary for the Oregon Bowling Proprietors’ Association, doing bookkeeping and organizing conventions and tournaments all over the state.

In 1987, Joyce and Joe moved to Honolulu, HI.

There Joyce worked for seven years for an interior store designer.

Then they moved to Guam for Joe’s work and lived there nearly two more years until they retired to Sun Lakes, AZ.

They spent their retirement years playing golf, bowling and traveling.

They toured Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, the Panama Canal, most of the US, as well as western Europe during their lifetime.

After Joe’s death in December, 2000, Joyce began to have a series of health problems.

She moved to a retirement center in Portland and eventually to Spokane, WA and then Ritzville, to live near her children.

There she lived as comfortably as possible.

She came to enjoy all kinds of games, and kept her competitive nature to the end.

Joyce is survived by her four children and their families: Carma and Bob Kenyon (Ritzville, WA), Claudia and Bruce Perkins (Lyons, OR), Joseph and Mercy Littlefield (Manila, Philippines), and Brian and Ann Littlefield (Bakersfield, CA).

She also has 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She also leaves sisters Irma Radden (Grand Junction, CO), Wilma Radden (Casper, WY), and brothers Homer Lynam (Tucson, AZ) and Gerald Lynam (Mobile, AL), She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and siblings Virginia Casey, Edna Griggs, Velma Moxley, Don Lynam and Harold Lynam, and great-granddaughter Brooke Hankel.

Joyce will be laid to rest in Oregon at a service to be arranged at a later date.

The family asks that any memorials in her honor be made to the American Heart Association.
