Obituary: Evans, Donald E.

Age 75

EVANS, Donald E. (Age 75) Don was born in 1939 and passed away April 19th, 2015.

Don was born in Spokane and spent most of his childhood in Elk, WA.

He loved the outdoors and as a kid he hunted with his Dad and fished and swam often in the little Spokane River.

It was a simple life style.

He went to Riverside High School but when he was 16, he lied about his age and joined the National Guard and then went into the Army.

He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and received numerous medals.

He retired from Military after 23 years.

He was on the Army sky diving competition team.

His last transfer was to Ft. Greeley in Fairbanks, AK, that is where he came to know the Lord.

After he retired, he worked for Alyeska Pipeline as a pump station technician, first in Pump Stn.

9, then 1 in Prudhoe Bay.

He loved Alaska, was very adventurous and had his own small plane.

Twenty years ago he moved back to Spokane to be near his family.

He was on a bowling league at Lilac Lanes, loved playing Texas Holdem at the VFW where he was an active member.

Don was a loving, caring and generous man.

Three years ago he married Beverly Autrey.

Don is survived by his wife Beverly Evans, his daughters Cheryl Boerner and Karen Vickaryous; sons Donnie Evans and Mark Evans; step-sons Gene and Dean Autrey; grandchildren Adam Evans, Rachel Fitz, Zachary Boerner, Christon Rasmussen, Elizabeth and Quinton Vickaryous; six great-grandchildren; and siblings Jerry Evans, Sharon Storey (Roger), Ernie Evans (Liza), Kristine Brady, Shirley Manship (Dan); numerous nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel (2003), father, Earl (1969); and his sisters Carol and Joanne.

Memorial service will be on Saturday, May 2nd at 2:00 at VFW Post 51, 300 W. Mission Ave.

Private interment.
