Obituary: Topolnisky, Ernie

Age 82

TOPOLNISKY, Ernie October 12, 1932 - April 17, 2015 Ernie was born in Andrew, Alberta; Canada.

He lived and worked in Canada until 1983.

In 1980 he met and married Sue Butterfield, lived in Calgary Alberta for 2.5 years, then moved to Spokane, Washington.

Ernie worked on a ranch in Colville before moving back to Spokane to work at a waste disposal company.

Upon his retirement from work he became active with CareCars, where he would take senior citizens to medical appointments when they had no transportation; one month he was awarded the Volunteer of the Month.

He loved going to the South Side Senior Center, playing Texas Hold’em and cribbage.

Ernie is survived by his four children all residing in Canada: Teresa (John); Bruce (Kandis); Craig (Marion); Janice (Marvin); his three grandsons: Oliver, Ryan and Owen; and his sister Victoria Megley who resides in Edmonton.

Ernie is also survived by his extended family in Spokane, Sue Butterfield, Lois (Dave) Beecher, nieces Tara (Bret) great-nephew Jaxon; Brooke (Ron) reside in California; Tia (Dustin) with great-niece Lillianna; Blaire Beecher; Lori Lynn (Albert) Staley and Diana (Robin) Morrison and their families.

Ernie attended Beyond Grace Fellowship where he met a wonderful companion, Marjorie Johnson, with whom he spent four years of happiness, laughter, love and friendship.

She preceded him in death April 2014.

Ernie had many friends, and was loved by many.

He was a kind and gentle soul, loved people, loved life and he will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Ernie’s Life will be held Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at Beyond Grace Fellowship, 1012 S. Freya St., Spokane, WA 99202.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Ernie’s name to Beyond Grace Fellowship for the youth mission trip to Puerto Rico this summer, or to the Southside Senior Center, 3151 E. 27th, Spokane, WA 99223, or to the Union Gospel Mission.
