Obituary: Snyder, Jr., George Freeland

Age 71

SNYDER, JR., George Freeland George Freeland Snyder Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep, at his home in Colbert, WA on July 31, 2015.

George was born to parents George F. Snyder and Dolly Snyder on December 17, 1943 in National City, CA.

George served his country in the Armed Forces.

He was stationed in Germany serving in the Army from 1961-1964.

He loved his Country, the American Flag and what it stood for.

He worked as a salesman in RV sales for over 30 years, at Guaranty RV for most of his career.

George wanted to make a difference and was instrumental in getting better fire service coverage in the McKenzie Valley.

He facilitated annexing McKenzie Fire department, then Walterville Fire department, to cover above Mile Post 18.

He served on the board of directors and was a volunteer firefighter.

George loved hunting and especially fishing with his buddies and his family.

He was known for his good sense of humor and practical jokes.

George was an avid supporter of the Oregon Ducks and will continue on in spirit.

He had many friends with whom he still kept in touch.

George enjoyed stamp collecting starting as a young boy.

He was a longtime NRA member and was heavily involved in keeping up to date in politics.

George just recently moved to Colbert, WA from Sisters, OR to be near his son and grandchildren.

George is survived by his mother, Dolly Snyder; his former wife Judy Bardouche; his sister Karen and her husband Jim Doherty; son Erik and his wife Amber Snyder and their children Olivia and Preston; daughter Ellen Snyder and her children Alexandra and Ana.

A Memorial Service will be held in Bend, OR on August 15, 2015 at the V.F.W.

Hall at 2:00 pm.
