Obituary: Brecto, Clare A.

Age 88

BRECTO, Clare A. November 19, 1926- July 28, 2015 Clare passed away on July 28, 2015 at the age of 88 at Franklin Hills Health and Rehab Center in Spokane, WA.

Clare was born in Port Huron, MI on November 19, 1926 to John and Emma Gooding.

Clare served in the Canadian Army.

Clare moved to Spokane in 1954.

She worked at Kaiser Aluminum and the State of Washington at both DSHS and Eastern State Hospital from which she retired.

She was passionate about antiques and was a local dealer for years.

She would wait all night in her car to be first in line at sales.

With a smile on her face, she would describe her “mahogany chests” that stored her papers and snacks at Franklin Hills Health and Rehab Center.

In her later years, Clare did not like to have her picture taken but loved the picture of Clare “Bon Jovi” Brecto.

Clare was preceded in death by her parents, her three siblings and her three husbands.

Clare is survived by her daughter, Gail Peterson, her son, Chuck (Nancy) Wilbert, her grandchildren, Jeff (Tara) Peterson, Chris Peterson, Holli (Brent) Widener, Jacqueline (Adrian) Castillo, Quentin Wilbert, Dan Suess (partner, Michael Pelch), her great-grandchildren, Koen Peterson, Sophia Castillo, Taylor Peterson and Harper Peterson.

The family wishes to thank Franklin Hills Health and Rehab Center for the years of devoted and loving care.

Clare would be thrilled to know we found her salt shaker!

A Celebration of Clare’s life will be held Friday, 8/14, from 4-8 pm at the home of Chuck and Nancy Wilbert, 5911 W. TomTom Ct., Spokane.
