HOOVER, Wilfred J.

“Bill” A loving husband, father and grandfather, Bill passed away on August 3, 2015 surrounded by his wife and children.

Family was very important to Bill and he was very important to them.

His grand- children and great-grandchildren adored him and always looked forward to visiting.

His passing will leave an empty space in many lives, especially those of his family.

Born on January 2nd, 1930 to Olive and Alfred Hoover, Bill was a lifetime resident of Spokane, WA.

He graduated from Rogers High School in 1948 and after graduation he met the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Donna.

Bill served in the Army and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War.

After the army Bill returned to Spokane where he worked at Kaiser Trentwood for 39 years retiring in 1991.

Bill loved playing racquetball and would enjoy an occasional beer with friends afterwards at the Eagles Lodge.

He never missed a Mariners or Seahawks game if he could help it.

He spent his summers gardening and the neighbors could always count on seeing him heading door to door handing out an abundance of tomatoes and zucchini.

Bill also loved growing sunflowers and would set them out in the winter to feed the birds.

Bill is survived and loved by his wife, Donna; his brother, Del and Teak Hoover; children, Greg Hoover, Guy and Kathy Hoover (San Jose, CA), Elizabeth Hoover-Flett, Gary Hoover, Jay and Terri Hoover and William (Bill) Hoover; grandchildren, Nick and Sarah Flett, Leonard Flett, Carla Flett, JC and Lonnie (Flett) Schuck (Franklin, OH), Genelle Hoover, Dennis and Missie (Hoover) Coker (San Jose, CA), Stephen Hoover (San Jose, CA), Tricia Hoover, Sarah Hoover and Kellsey Hoover; nine great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and brothers in law, Guy Dumais and Allen Walls.

He was preceded in death by his baby daughter, Katherine; parents, Olive and Alfred Hoover; sisters, Peggy (Hoover) Walls and Pat (Hoover) Dumais.

A Rosary Vigil will be held Wednesday, August 12th at 7:00 pm at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division St., Spokane, WA.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St Pat’s church, 5021 N Nelson Street, Spokane, WA, August 13th at 11:00 am with reception to follow in the school hall.

A Graveside Service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery at 2:00pm, following the reception.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to: Spokane HOPE School, 310 N Riverpoint Blvd.
