Obituary: Terwilleger, Gary Lee
Age 68
He passed away on July 29, 2015, surrounded by his loving family as he entered into Heaven.
In 1954, his family moved to Spokane, WA.
Gary graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1965.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1970 serving 2 years in Vietnam.
Gary married JoAnne Peterson in 1974 in Spokane Valley, Washington.
He worked for Medical Service Corporation (Premera Blue Cross) as a Computer Programmer and Systems Analyst for 25 years, and retired in 2011 from Financial Partners, Inc. where he was a Business Analyst.
Gary is survived by his wife, JoAnne; two daughters, Stacy Wilhelm (Casey) and Tracy Pence (Jeff); four grandchildren, Zachary Wilhelm, who is in the Army stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, Madison Wilhelm, Emily Pence, and Isabella Pence, all of Spokane Valley, Washington; His Mother, Genave Cox, resides in Carterville, Illinois; sister, Donna Youngblood (John) who reside in Herrin, Illinois; and nephews, Ryan Youngblood (Amy) of Columbus, Mississippi, and Joel Youngblood (Amanda) of Herrin, Illinois; great-nephews, Jonathan, Matthew, Jeremiah, Joseph, and great-niece, Abigail; his stepbrothers, Terry Beckner (Penny), Larry Beckner, and Jerry Beckner all of Washtucna, Washington; his sisters-in-law, Judy Hande and Jeanne Peterson; and niece, Jill Daniels all of Spokane Valley, Washington.
He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Preceded in death by his father, Terry Terwilleger in 1971.
Gary loved spending time with his family at Priest Lake which was his favorite place.
He moored his boat at the Blue Diamond Marina where he had many special friends.
Gary had a private pilot’s license.
He especially enjoyed taking family and friends for rides.
He enjoyed swimming, snow skiing, camping, computers, and playing board games with his grandchildren.
Gary was known as Grandpa and PoPo by his Grandchildren.
Our family would like to ‘Thank’ Dr. Danko Martincic and Cancer Care Northwest for their support and care during Gary’s illness.
And an additional ‘Thank You’ to the Nurses and NACS on the Seventh Floor South at Sacred Heart Medical Center for their compassion and caring for Gary.
He was loved by everyone who knew him.
Our lives will never be the same without him.
He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
