People: Dre, Ice Cube deny N.W.A misogny charges

From Wire Reports

Dr. Dre and Ice Cube denied long-standing charges of misogyny against N.W.A in a new interview with Rolling Stone.

The new N.W.A biopic “Straight Outta Compton” has resurrected debate about N.W.A’s lyrics and representations of women, as well as Dr. Dre’s 1991 assault against TV personality Dee Barnes.

Dre told the magazine: “I made some … horrible mistakes in my life.” He said he’s paid for it and will never “make another mistake like that again.”

In 1992, Dre pleaded guilty to charges from the incident. He was later unapologetic, saying: “It ain’t no big thing. I just threw her through a door.”

Ice Cube said their music distinguishes between “upstanding ladies” and “bitches.”

“Don’t be jumping to the defense of these despicable females,” he said.

Leno returning to TV with car show

Jay Leno couldn’t help himself. Just because he’s no longer doing monologues as host of “The Tonight Show” doesn’t mean he can resist cracking jokes about Donald Trump.

Meeting with TV critics Thursday to discuss his new CNBC car show, Leno took a detour to lampoon the GOP presidential front-runner.

Noting the battle for that nomination between Jeb Bush and Trump, Leno said, “It’s kind of like the race between the tortoise and the bad hair.”

Leno reminded reporters that he has two passions in life, comedy and cars. The latter is fueling his new show, “Jay Leno’s Garage,” premiering on CNBC on Oct. 7.

Howard alleging divorce blackmail

Actor Terrence Howard briefly took the witness stand Thursday in a divorce proceeding before a judge halted the proceedings so he can decide a legal issue.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Thomas Trent Lewis recessed the hearing until this morning to determine whether the star of the television series “Empire” can testify about communications he had with his ex-wife while a divorce settlement was being finalized in 2012.

Howard is seeking to overturn the settlement, arguing his ex-wife extorted him into the agreement by threatening to leak embarrassing information including a sex tape, video of the actor dancing naked in the bathroom and other recordings.

Lawyers for Michelle Ghent say she denied that she blackmailed the Oscar-nominated actor.
