Obituary: Reavis, Jimmy M.

REAVIS, Jimmy M. (Age 81) Jimmy Reavis “Jim”, passed away peacefully, Friday July 31 from complications related to COPD.

He was born in Ardmore Oklahoma to Chester and MaryLou Reavis.

The second son of “Chuck” and “MamaLou”, Jim grew up playing sports, hunting and fishing with his family, and enjoying life.

He graduated from the University of Oklahoma where he studied accounting and played football and was a die hard “Sooners” fan.

Throughout his early adult life he was a bachelor and and avid hunter and fisherman.

He served his country during the Korean War conflict.

He married Audrey Shryack in September of 1964.

He adopted her two children Pamela and Robert and had two children of their own, Kevin and Louan.

Shortly after getting married, the family moved to Alaska where he worked as a CPA and furthered his love of hunting and fishing.

He joined the government as an IRS agent and the family moved to Walla Walla, Washington in 1968 where he worked as an agent for a few years.

In 1972 the family moved to Spokane Washington where they lived for 14 years in Otis Orchards.

Jimmy was a regular feature in the bleachers of softball, football, basketball, and baseball games from 1972 - 1986.

Always there to give his kids a thumbs up for their play on the field or on the court.

He was active as a leader in Cub and Boy Scouts and always willing to haul a truckload of kids across the valley for summer games.

He was the kind of person to pitch in and lend a hand to anyone of his friends or family that needed help.

Not afraid of hard work, he maintained large gardens and a variety of farm animals while in Otis Orchards.

He finished his career with the IRS in Seattle and then retired to the Potholes Resevoir near Moses Lake in 1988.

He enjoyed the company of good friends and the fishing in the lakes around the area while living in Highland Estates.

Due to health concerns and to be closer to family, he moved to Evergreen Court in Clarkston for his final two years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Audrey (2003).

He is survived by his brother Chuck Reavis of Texas, two nephews and their children; four children Pamela Schulz of Hermiston OR, Robert Reavis of Newman Lake WA, Kevin Reavis of Tacoma WA, and Louan Weakland of Asotin WA; 10 grandchildren, who he bragged about constantly to his friends or anyone else that would listen, and one great-grandchild.

The family would like to thank his friends in Otis and Highland Estates for their love and support for Jim after Audrey passed.

We would also like to thank the nurses, health care and social workers and other staff at Evergreen Court and Prestige Nursing for the care they provided during his final months.

As in life, not wanting to be in the spotlight, so he is in death, wishing to pass quietly, the family is honoring his request that no services be held.

May he rest in peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior.
