Obituary: Schott, Betty Forest

Age 98

SCHOTT, Betty Forest Betty Forest Schott was born February 25, 1917 in Spokane and died July 5, 2015 at the age of 98.

A 1935 graduate of North Central High School, Betty joined a girlfriend in Los Angeles, CA in 1936.

The next day, July 4th, she met Warren Schott on a blind date and they were married April 2, 1938.

Betty and Warren were married for 76 years before Warren died in May 2014.

In 1939, Warren, a Navy 1st Class Petty Officer, was assigned to the Naval Air Station, Ford Island, Hawaii, and Betty joined him after earning her passage.

They were living in military housing on Ford Island at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor (December 7, 1941), and were Pearl Harbor survivors.

Betty and young son returned to Spokane in 1943 and in 1946 Warren joined them.

Warren built their home in Orchard Avenue in 1949 where they lived for 68 years.

Betty had a rewarding career as Director of Admissions at Fort Wright College in Spokane from 1965-1975.

Betty is survived by two sons, Warren Jr., (Skip) Schott (wife Karin) and Bob Schott (wife Kathy); two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 21st, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Harvard Park Retirement Community, 1616 E. 30th, Spokane WA.
