Obituary: Brittain, Noel Harold Jr. “Budd”
Age 71
At a year old, his family returned to his parent’s hometown of Buhl, Idaho.
In 1962, Budd grad- uated from Buhl High School.
On his 18th birthday, he joined the Army and was soon deployed to Vietnam.
During his Army years and for several years thereafter, Budd was a fastball pitcher with an outstanding win record.
After his honorable discharge in 1965, he returned to Idaho and married Carolyn Loucks in 1966.
They lived all over the US, returning to Idaho where they welcomed two beautiful children, Scott Anthony and Shelley Anne.
They were later divorced.
In 1980, Budd married his second wife, Joanne Monroe Wilson and gained three daughters, Tammy, Kim and Connie “Rae”.
In 1986, Budd and Joanne moved north where they put down their permanent roots in Elk, WA at their treasured Elkhorn Ranch.
Together they built a wonderful life and have gained countless friends.
Throughout his life, he was a “jack of all trades”.
After attending night school for many years to get his degree, he became a public accountant.
He worked in this capacity for many years as a young man.
Later, he followed his natural talent and became a salesman, selling a number of different products.
In addition, he and Joanne had a successful horse ranch, breeding and selling horses.
In the past decade, he and his wife were owner/operators of a pilot escort business, which allowed them to travel the countryside together, which they both loved.
Budd had many passions including classic cars, playing pinochle or cribbage with Joanne, dancing and eating breakfast at one of his favorite local hangouts where he enjoyed visiting with friends and catching up on the latest news.
Budd was quick to laugh and share a joke, he never knew a stranger and was always there to lend a helping hand.
Quietly, he donated to many local charities and needy organizations.
On August 14, 2015, Budd passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife Joanne “Spunchy” Brittain; and children, Scott (Maggie) Brittain of Twin Falls, ID, Shelley (Tom) Palacio of Gooding, ID, Tammy (Russ) Vatcher of Blanchard, ID, Kim (Daryl) Orvik of Elk, WA and Connie “Rae” Wilson of Las Vegas, NV (and bonus children Stevan Wilson and Kelly Peachey); 21 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Norma Sanders, Phyllis Lamb and Dennis Brittain.
His larger-than-life persona and generous spirit will forever be cherished - and already missed.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his grandson, Tony Bennett, who meticulously cared for him these past four months.
