Obituary: Hancon, Sharon Marie (Matts)
Sharon loved life and was enjoying retirement, her cats, watching the Seattle Seahawks and playing slots at the casino.
Born in Chicago and reared in Spokane, Sharon was a gifted orator.
She was a champion debater in high school and loved engaging anyone and everyone in spirited conversation.
Sharon was selected by her classmates to represent Marycliff High School as its Lilac Princess in her Senior year and she was thrilled to ride in the parade in an open top convertible.
She left Spokane after high school and headed to Chicago where she spent many years in the insurance business achieving management positions in a large company.
She moved home to Spokane and settled back into life in the West with her many friends.
She moved to Usk and then to Post Falls Idaho.
When the cancer challenged her health and spirit, she faced it with characteristic strength and humor.
She bought flashy hats and stepped out to face the days with a smile.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mary and brother Ed Matts.
Sharon is survived by her sisters Linda Huff and Theresa McDevitt and brothers John and Tom Matts.
