Obituary: Stark, Dorothy (Kreyssler)

Age 93

STARK, Dorothy (Kreyssler) (Age 93) Dorothy passed away on August 14, 2015.

Born in Latah, WA to George and Minnie Kreyssler on March 23, 1922, she was the youngest of five children.

Following schooling at Kelsey Baird Business School, she worked for many years as a medical transcriptionist for several local doctors’ offices, the radiology department at Sacred Heart Hospital and in medical records at St. Luke’s Hospital.

She learned on a manual typewriter, progressed to an electric one, then to a programmable typewriter and finally to a computer.

She was a master of the keyboard.

She married Roy A Stark on July 7, 1945 and they had three children: Sandra Riebe, Dan Stark, and Thom (Mary) Stark.

Dorothy was a devoted and active member of Hamblen Park Presbyterian church, working in the kitchen, baking cookies for memorial services, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, training Acolytes, making meals for shut-ins, and enjoying the fellowship and work of the Stamper’s Group making cards.

Following her first stroke in 2011, she felt especially blessed to be able to attend worship services as often as possible.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Roy; her son Dan; and her siblings, Margaret Early, Alvin Kreyssler, Lawrence Kreyssler, and Lucille Engdahl.

Along with Sandy and Thom, she is survived by her grandchildren: Monica Koedding, Larisa Stark, David (Monique) Stark, Sarah (Ryan) Metcalf, Nick (Melissa) Stark, and Kristen (Steve) Meier; her great-grandchildren: Colton and Clay Somes, Peyton Hill, Jaden Stark, Mason, Maddox and Marshall Metcalf, Trey and Bayley Stark, Taeryn, Zoey and Brooklyn Meier; she is also survived by nieces, Kathy Buchanan and Karen Santschi-Dauphin; nephews George Engdahl, Don Engdahl, and Larry Kreyssler along with their families.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverview Terrace and Care Center for the amazing care the past three and a half years.

She was a gracious lady who prepared wonderful home-cooked meals, loved to knit, always had her hair done beautifully and carried a handkerchief.

Her Christian faith defined her life.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, as well as a cherished and loyal friend to many.

A Celebration of her Life will be held on Friday, August 21st at 3:30pm at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church with a reception following in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church for the Camp Spalding Scholarship Fund.
