Obituary: Kellogg, Virginia P.
Age 75
Born to Sylvan Thomas Walter and Irene Blanche Walter on January 16, 1940 in McGill, Nevada, she moved to a wonderful little cottage on Flathead Lake in Somers, Montana.
She attended elementary school in Somers, where she missed seventh grade due to illness, but still graduated co-valedictorian of her eithth grade class.
She attended Flathead County High School for two years before moving to Spokane with her mother, sister and two nephews.
She attended Mead Senior High for her junior year and it was there that she met the love of her life Jim Kellogg.
She graduated with honors amongst the top ten of her class and became a member of the National Honor Society.
She was gifted with five scholarships, but her love for Jim won her over and they were married on December 30, 1958.
God blessed their marriage by giving them the gift of a much-prayed-for and beloved son Daryn Scott Kellogg, of whom she and Jim adore and will remain with through eternity.
She greatly enjoyed gardening and was a member of the National Rose Society.
She collected art glass, and met her dear friends Joy and Terry Walden through this hobby.
Virginia suffered from a hereditary form of heart failure, and received a heart transplant in December of 2002.
Her new heart gave her many more years with her family, and much gratitude is expressed to Drs.
Icenogle and Sandler and the rest of the transplant team at Sacred Heart.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvan and Irene; her siblings, Ralph and Colleen; and numerous family members and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jim; her son Daryn; her nephews Clifford and Jim; and other relatives and special friends.
Her family wishes to send special thanks to the staff at Hospice House North for their exceptional care of Virginia while she was there.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, August 29th at 1:00pm at Colbert Chapel, 4922 E. Bernhill Rd, Colbert, WA.
