Obituary: Kraus, William Hubert “Bill”
Age 76
He will be especially missed by his grandchildren, Andy, Dan, Brian, Kate, Gina, Ronnie and Jonas.
Bill practiced the art of storytelling, sports fanaticism, soapbox preaching and backyard philosophy from West Virginia to Spokane and beyond for nearly 77 years while working in oil fields, the U.S. Air Force, and on the road, truck driving.
His fondest wish was to be remembered as a proud Union Teamster, a work-in-progress, a child of God, a Roman Catholic man of faith and an honest hard working man from West Virginia who loved God, his family and his country.
Bill’s generosity was inspirational, from opening his home to those less fortunate to volunteering with the Knights of Columbus and St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic School as a teachers aide.
Only a crucial collegiate sports event kept Bill Kraus from being there to serve pancakes, hand out tootsie rolls or sharpen pencils.
He will be remembered August 27th, at 8 a.m., at Spokane’s St. Aloysius Catholic Church, his parish of more than 10 years.
In lieu of sending flowers, please help continue his good work by donating to L’Arche of Spokane (larcheofspokane.org) or Catholic Charities (catholiccharitiesspokane.org).
If you’ve spent more than five minutes with Bill, you’re aware that he had an unquenchable enthusiasm and passion for everything in life - family, food, religion, politics, reading, games, singing, arguing, social media .

no topic was taboo or trivial.
His life was like the patchwork quilt his mother, Josephine made and passed on to him - full of rich color and unique patterns - each piece a story in itself.
Beautiful to behold.
