Obituary: Wages, Doris C.

WAGES, Doris C. 1929-2015 A lifelong resident of Spokane, Doris passed away peacefully at her home August 17, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a younger brother, and many cousins.

Surviving cousins live in Oregon, California, and Missouri.

Doris graduated from North Central High School in 1947, and was class reunion treasurer for many years.

She also graduated from Whitworth College/University.

Doris had a career in elementary education that spanned more than 30 years.

She served as the school librarian for several local schools and had been involved with the retired school librarians group since her retirement in 1986.

Doris was a 50 year member of the Spokane Branch, American Association of University Women being active in various groups including travel and the yearly book sale.

She enjoyed traveling, in particular Norway, and although not Norwegian herself, she became interested in the language and went on to teach classes.

She loved music, especially opera, and was an avid reader and historian.

She supported and regularly attended drama presentations in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene and enjoyed activities with the Corbin Senior Center.

She was a long time cat owner and supporter of several animal shelters and will be missed by many groups and individuals.

Graveside services and reception will be held at Riverside Memorial Park, 508 N. Government Way, Friday, September 11, 2015 at 1:00 pm.
