Geiger inmate escapes work crew

A Spokane County Detention Services inmate jumped from a work crew vehicle in the area of 5th Avenue and Maple Street about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday.

The inmate, Leah J. Collins, was last seen running toward Interstate 90 into the downtown area. She was wearing a green jumpsuit, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office reported in a news release.

Collins is described as a 5-foot-4 white female, 175 pounds with brown eyes and red dyed hair. She was at Geiger Corrections Facility on misdemeanor theft charges.

Anyone with information about Collins is asked to call (509) 456-2233 or 911.
