Kootenai County declares snowstorm emergency
Kootenai County Commissioners held an emergency meeting Wednesday to declare a disaster in connection to the recent series of snowstorms.
Commissioners hope that the declaration will allow access to additional resources in dealing with the snow and the damage it has caused, according to a county news release.
The large amount of snow that has fallen in recent weeks has led to damage to utilities and public property. With extremely cold weather in the forecast to ensure the snow won’t melt, commissioners are concerned about continuing damage.
“Any additional snowfall may overload public infrastructure and buildings,” the news release said.
