1. No. 8 Arizona (12-1) Even when the Wildcats didn’t look like their old selves in the middle of their nonconference schedule, they kept winning games. And Arizona is starting to blow teams out.

Best win: Gonzaga Worst loss No. 12 Providence

2. No. 21 Utah (11-2) The Utes were shell-shocked by Miami, and then everybody figured out just how good the Hurricanes are.

Best win: No. 15 Duke Worst loss: Wichita State

3. No. 25 UCLA (9-4) Beating the No. 10 team in the country is sweet. But not as sweet as getting revenge for last year’s embarrassing loss to Kentucky.

Best win: No. 10 Kentucky Worst loss: Wake Forest

4. Arizona State (10-3) Bobby Hurley’s ASU tenure began with a thud. But the Sun Devils have looked great since the season-opening loss to Sacramento State.

Best win: No. 20 Texas A&M Worst loss: Sacramento State

5. Colorado (11-2) The Buffaloes don’t have any great wins. But they’ve only lost to ranked teams, and never by more than six points.

Best win: BYU Worst loss: No. 17 SMU

6. Oregon (11-2) Once the Ducks get over their injuries, this could be one of the most dangerous teams in the conference.

Best win: No. 20 Baylor Worst loss: Boise State

7. California (10-3) A one-point overtime loss to No. 5 Virginia kept the Golden Bears from having the conference’s most impressive win. As it stands, Cal doesn’t have many especially impressive victories.

Best win: Saint Mary’s Worst loss: Richmond

8. USC (11-2) The still-young Trojans aren’t playing many tough teams, but they’re winning by wide margins.

Best win: Wichita State Worst loss: Monmouth

9. Washington (8-4) The Huskies start four freshmen. They are talented freshmen, sure, but not ones who are ready yet to win consistently.

Best win: Texas Worst loss: UC Santa Barbara

10. Oregon State (9-2) A 3-point explosion led to a great first half for the Beavers against Kansas, but this is another talented young team that’s still a year or two away.

Best win: Tulsa Worst loss: Valparaiso

11. Washington State (8-4) The Cougars have some intriguing new pieces, and have played some impressive halves of basketball, but WSU still has too many head-scratching moments.

Best win: New Mexico Worst loss: Idaho

12. Stanford (7-4) Stanford is fairly talented and fairly experienced, and fairly unimpressive through 11 games.

Best win: Arkansas Worst loss: Saint Mary’s
