Nine of the 11 children of the late Ben and Thelma Kelly gathered with well over 100 people, including their children and grandchildren and friends, rented the senior center, set up several televisions and brought enough food for a long afternoon of football. One Kelly daughter, Brenda Hawkins, said her parents made the siblings play together as children, whether they wanted to or not. “They would say ‘You’ll never have any friends like your brothers and sisters.’ ” she said. “We have such a neat family.” (Jesse Tinsley)
