Elements of hydropower bill inaccurately described

Legislation sponsored by Sen. Doug Ericksen, R-Ferndale, would not classify hydropower as a renewable resource. Utilities can fulfill clean-energy requirements with some investments to hydroelectric dams, and the current requirement for such energy is 3 percent. A story on page A9 in Friday’s paper incorrectly described some aspects of the bill, and overstated the requirements for renewable energy, based on a reporter’s error.
