Obituary: Organ, Donald W. “Don”
Age 83
He died peacefully at home.
Don was born December 1, 1931 in Colfax to Harl Organ and Pearl Smith Organ.
He attended Hamilton Grade School and graduated from Colfax High School in 1950.
Soon after graduation he joined the Army and served Honorably in Korea.
He returned to Colfax and worked for J.J. Dodgen as a carpenter.
When Dodgen retired he went to work with his brother, Lewis.
Then formed a partnership with his father-in-law, Emmett Jahnke, called J&O Builders.
When Emmett retired Don formed Landmark Construction with Steve Doty and continued until Don’s retirement in 2008.
August 4, 1962 he married Shelley Redmond of Colfax.
They celebrated their 52nd anniversary in 2014.
He was a devoted husband and father.
He will be greatly missed by his wife and children: Donna (Gary) Burger, Bonnie (Jeff) Laramee, Matthew (Julie) Organ, Gayle (Chris) Larson, and Charlie (Kelli) Organ; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister, Julie (Bryon) Rentz, Alberta, Canada.
Preceded in death by his sister, Mildred McMannis, and brother, Lewis.
Don loved family most but also enjoyed boating, water skiing swimming, family get togethers and trips to Cannon Beach, OR with Shelley and the family.
He loved sports, especially watching the Seahawks, Mariners and Gonzaga basketball.
The Memorial Service will be Friday, February 13th, 2015, 1:00 pm with reception following at Colfax United Methodist Church, 109 S. Mill St., Colfax, WA 99111.
Memorial donations may be made to Colfax Volunteer Fire Department.
