Obituary: Brophy, James Leonard

Age 86

BROPHY, James Leonard Born to Leonard and Ruth Brophy in Spokane January 9, 1929.

Friday, February 6, passed peacefully with family present.

Graduated from Lewis and Clark H. S. and secured employment at Washington Water Power (Avista).

After service with Army in Korea, returned to Spokane and WWP in the drafting-engineering deptartment remaining to become a Trailblazer (20 years) and retiring January 30, 1988.

Survived by wife of 57 years, Emma Lou; son, Dan Brophy, Richmond, VA; sister, Colleen Miller-Hanson (Dick Hanson); brothers, Paul Brophy, Crafton, PA; Michael Brophy (Pam), Thompson Falls, MT; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents and sisters, Patricia Frauchiger and Frances Beaulieu-Bohlman.

Favorite things were fishing for mackinaw at Loon Lake, his cat “Clemmie.”

Also other cats (all) sizes, our finny friends-whales and soaring birds.

He was fond of bowling, automobiles and airplanes, which he enjoyed after retirement.

He belonged to St. Charles Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 8137.

Jim was a true gentleman, honest, kind, faithful.

His Irish wit could make you laugh.

Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, February 10th at 1 pm at St. Charles Parish (4515 N. Alberta).

Inurnment will be Tuesday, February 10th at 2:30 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery (7200 N. Wall).
