‘View’ adieu Part II for Rosie O’Donnell

Rosie O’Donnell has ended her second stint on “The View,” her goodbye about as short as her tenure.

Holding her toddler daughter, O’Donnell made her exit Thursday. She thanked the show’s creator, Barbara Walters, for having her on twice. Her first tenure lasted a stormy eight months and ended in 2007.

She announced last weekend she was leaving. O’Donnell, who is going through a divorce and has had a heart attack, said she needed to reduce the stress in her life.

“We’ve had fun and I hope we’ll have more,” she said. “I’ll come back and do an occasional crafting segment because I have a hot glue gun and will travel.”

O’Donnell had returned to “The View” in September, part of a revamp aimed at stopping a ratings slide, joining Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace on the panel.

Hirsch charged in woman’s choking

Authorities said actor Emile Hirsch put a woman in a chokehold during an altercation at a Utah nightclub that occurred during the Sundance Film Festival.

He faces a felony charge of aggravated assault.

Charging documents say the altercation happened Jan. 25 at the Tao Nightclub in Park City. Authorities say Hirsch put the woman in a chokehold, she blacked out, and two people had to pull Hirsch off of her.

Hirsch told police he didn’t know the woman but was having an argument with her. He acknowledged being intoxicated.

His agent, Brian Swardstrom, and attorney, Robert Offer, didn’t immediately return messages seeking comment.

Hirsch, 29, is best known for his starring role in “Into the Wild.” He was at Sundance for the premiere of the drama “Ten Thousand Saints.”

‘SNL’ anniversary show expanded

The “Saturday Night Live” 40th anniversary special apparently is bursting at the seams with talent.

NBC said Thursday it’s expanding the special by a half hour, to a total of 3 1/2 hours.

Everyone who has been an “SNL” regular, guest host or musical guest has been invited. Attendees announced so far range from Dan Aykroyd, Alec Baldwin and Robert De Niro to Kanye West, Betty White and Kristen Wiig.

“SNL” debuted as “NBC’s Saturday Night” on Oct. 11, 1975, with comedian George Carlin as host, and Billy Preston and Janis Ian as its musical guests. NBC is rebroadcasting that first episode Saturday at 11:30 p.m.

The “SNL 40th Anniversary Special” airs Sunday from 8 to 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
