Obituary: Flake, Janet Alice

FLAKE, Janet Alice (Age 89) Janet Alice Flake left this planet on February 11, 2015 in Spokane, WA.

She was born in Portland, Oregon.

She is survived by her brother, Terry Elder in Corvallis, Oregon; her son Dr. Brian Flake, a chiropractor in Spokane; and her daughter, Alice Kristensen in Seattle, Washington.

Janet was a talented ballerina, pianist, and singer.

She studied music at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, then transferred to Oregon State University, finishing with degrees in Education and Music.

She always kept her connection with Tri Delta Sorority.

She married Al Flake on September 8, 1946; residing in Portland, Seattle, Eugene, and the last 52 years in Spokane.

As representatives of fine furniture manufacturers, they traveled five Northwest states, B.C., and Alberta.

Janet and Al were long time members of Manito Golf & Country Club.

Janet was a ‘doer’ and a ‘joiner’.

She loved all travel (especially Hawaii), musicals, dance, reading, people, the outdoors, and quite frankly; just about everything.

She may never have complained in her whole life.

Janet was a devoted wife for 54 years and a wonderful ever-giving mother to Brian and Alice.

She embraced life.

With that in mind, we are having two “Celebrations of Life”.

One at Manito Golf & Country Club on Sunday, March 22, 2-4pm.

And one for all of her relatives in Oregon at Multnomah Falls, where her family picnicked growing up.

As Mom would say, “Toodle-oo”.
