Obituary: Riordan, Rita Ellen

Age 85

RIORDAN, Rita Ellen Rita Ellen Riordan passed away February 4, 2015 in Spokane.

She was born June 13, 1929 in Spokane at Sacred Heart Hospital, the daughter of William Daniel and Genvieve (Myrick) Robbins.

Rita graduated from St. Joseph Grade School in Spokane and Marycliff High School in 1947.

Rita went to work for the Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company and became an honored and respected employee, retiring in 1991 after 42 years of service.

She worked and lived in Seattle for over 30 years before returning to Spokane on September 11, 2001.

Rita enjoyed traveling both in and out of the U.S. and numerous winters in Yuma, AZ.

Every trip would include a “Rita Adventure” which usually involved a comical mishap and/or getting slightly lost.

Rita will always be remembered as saying “I am your smart cousin”.

She leaves behind her cousins Jean Kiefel and Donna Gregory and a trail of second, third and fourth cousins.

She was preceded in death by her first husband George Dinnetz; her second husband Donald Riordan; long time companion Bix Corey; and her parents.

Her siblings were Margaret Nelson, William Robbins and James Robbins.

Funeral Mass will be Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11am and will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1503 W. Dean, Spokane with inurnment to follow at 1 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall St. Rita was a faithful contributor to Our Place Ministries, 1509 West College Avenue, Spokane, WA 99201.
