Obituary: Farrington, Marcella F.

FARRINGTON, Marcella F. (Age 93) Marcella was born on December 6, 1921 in Spokane to William and Nellie Weller.

She lived in Spokane her whole life and was a member of the Alter Guilds at various parishes along with the Spokane Symphony.

She was baptized at St. Aloysius and was a member of a large, close knit family that lived in many areas of Eastern Washington and Idaho.

She attended and graduated from Mary Cliff High School in 1939.

During the war she worked for the Spokesman Review and after the war at Gonzaga University in the Registrar’s Office.

In 1948, she married William Farrington and they were married for 37 years until his death in 1985.

Bill was an interior decorator working for Poulin’s in downtown Spokane, while Marcella worked at several places, including the Spokane Symphony.

Her favorite summer outings were to Priest Lake, from her childhood on.

She worked on many fundraisers such as the Champagne Balls which were held in the 1960’s.

Bill and Marcella were a very popular couple, entertaining a wide group of friends and family many times in their home.

They enjoyed plays, the Symphony, and traveling shows.

She enjoyed reading mysteries, going to the Casino and a good meal out with friends.

Marcella was a lifelong faithfully Catholic person.

She and Bill were well traveled and she even attended a cooking school in Paris one summer.

Marcella’s last place of employment was at the SNAP program as a grant writer.

For the last several years Marcella resided at the Brookdale Harbor Crest Assisted Living Facility, until she suffered a massive stroke.

She made friends easily and enjoyed her life as much as possible.

Marcella was a vivacious, loving friend and a very giving person throughout her life.

She never lost that sparkle in her eye.

The care giving staff at Harbor Crest and Hospice House were very kind to her during her last illness, which was greatly appreciated.
