Obituary: Johnston, Lois

JOHNSTON, Lois (Fogelquist) Born on December 8, 1932 in Spokane Washington.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School.

Lois then attended the University of Idaho where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority.

She married the love of her life, Ken Johnston, on April 2, 1953, upon his return from service in Korea.

Lois returned to college in 1970 and graduated from EWU in 1972 with a degree in Education.

She taught at Blair Elementary School on the Fairchild Air Force Base as a Special Education/Reading specialist until her retirement in 1994.

Lois is survived by her husband, Ken Johnston, three daughters Kathy Thursby (Richard), Jeannette Gobel (Kevin) and Sandra Johnston; grandchildren Emily Stough (Wayne), Eric Gobel (Katy), Paul Thursby, Candice Snedeker (Zachary) and sister, Janet Wilson (Fogelquist); niece Anne Williamson and nephews Steve Jacobson, Robert Botchek and David Leland and brother-in-law Don Jacobson.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Jacobson (Fogelquist) and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Thursby.

Ken and Lois spent many happy summers at Priest Lake and winters in Hawaii with beloved family and friends, including her life time friend, Glenmar Fulmer.

She was an avid reader, star gazer and bird watcher.

Lois was also famous for her cat whispering skills.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
