Obituary: Jackson, Maxine R.

Age 87

JACKSON, Maxine R. Maxine Ruth Jackson passed away of natural causes on December 29, 2014 at Prairie View Adult Family Home in Mead, Washington.

She was 87 years old and under Hospice Care.

Maxine was born on June 13, 1927 in Seaforth, Ontario, Canada to the late Elmer Secord McBrien and Grace Manson Landsborough.

She had only one brother, David, born when Maxine was 12 years of age.

David died when he was 3 years old.

Maxine grew up basically an only child on the family farm of Evergreen Grove in Seaforth.

Wanting more from life, Maxine moved to the US after graduating from high school.

Her mother passed away in 1959, but her father, with whom she was always close, lived to be 90.

She remained close to him throughout his life.

Maxine had an exciting life as she worked as a manager in the Fashion Manufacturing Industry for several years.

She met the love of her life, Paul Winfield Jackson, in California and married him on May 28, 1970.

She and Paul were soul mates and very happy together.

Maxine and Paul had no children together, but Paul’s daughter, Anne, from a previous marriage, lived with them for a few years.

Maxine had a taste of motherhood, and referred to Anne throughout her life as “My Girl”.

Maxine and Paul owned and operated an embroidery business in Burbank, California, where they embroidered things for the rich and famous.

They owned and operated a few other businesses over the years.

Maxine and Paul loved to dance and did a lot of dancing.

They also loved to travel and took many car trips over the years.

Maxine was a good photographer and enjoyed taking pictures on their travels.

Maxine loved her pets and always had a dog and/or cat to love in their home.

They had a good and happy life together for many years.

Paul got sick and they moved from California to Washington.

Maxine cared for Paul at home for years, until she could no longer.

When Paul needed to be moved to a nursing home, Maxine continued to visit him every day.

Paul declined and passed away on January 4, 2008.

They had been married for 38 years.

Maxine’s health quickly deteriorated after losing Paul and soon she also needed assistance.

She was moved to Prairie View Adult Family Home in Mead, Washington, where she stayed for the remainder of her days.

Bev and Tim Walter and the staff there saved her life and took excellent care of her.

They even allowed her to bring her little dog, “Lillie”, with her for them to also care for.

Maxine became a part of their family and was happy living there.

Maxine was a very classy, special lady who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.

A special “Thank You” to Bev and Tim Walter and the staff at Prairie View for the years of love and care they gave to Maxine in her time with them, to Dr. Daniel Dionne who was her doctor for many years, and to Hospice of Spokane for their end of life care.

Maxine is survived by one step-son, Scott Jackson, and spouse, Virginia, of San Diego, CA; one step-daughter, Anne Peggins, and spouse, Jordan Pratt, of Sacramento, CA; and one grandson, Micheal Peggins, and spouse, Zulema, of San Diego, CA.

A Memorial Service for Maxine will be held Wednesday January 14, 2015, 1:30 pm at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home.
