Riverside stays undefeated in Northeast A

Andrew Kramer scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Riverside won its fifth straight game and kept its spotless Northeast A League record intact with a 54-43 win over Medical Lake on Friday night in Riverside.

Tyler Axtell added 15 points for the Rams (12-1, 7-0), and Jesse Anselm scored 11 of his 12 during Riverside’s decisive 21-12 second-quarter run.

The Rams’ only loss came against San Lorenzo Valley (California) on Dec. 29 in a tournament in San Diego.

Medical Lake’s Dom Harvey-Mitchell tallied a team-high 10 points and Tellas Johnson and Jaelon Stith each added nine.

The Cardinals (8-4, 5-2) fell to third place in the NEA. The teams meet again Feb. 10 in Medical Lake in both teams’ regular-season finale.

Freeman 65, Deer Park 59: The Scotties (6-6, 4-3) used a spirited rally to erase a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit and stunned the Stags (5-8, 3-4) in Deer Park. Trailing 51-39 after three quarters, Freeman outscored Deer Park 26-8 in the fourth to steal the win.

Jake Phipps and Ryan Maine scored 20 points apiece for the Scotties, who forced 25 Deer Park turnovers. The Stags were led by Nate Guske, who poured in a game-high 32 points on 11-of-23 shooting, including 7 of 10 from the free-throw line. Guske also pulled down nine rebounds. Freeman and Deer Park meet again Feb. 10 in Freeman.

Lakeside 65, Colville 51: Ryan Quigley had 22 points and 10 rebounds and Cameron Gay added 20 points and six assists as the Eagles (11-2, 6-1) used a hot start to get past the Indians (1-11, 1-6) in Nine Mile Falls. Lakeside built a 19-9 first-quarter lead in an otherwise competitive game. Dominique Watson added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Eagles, who have won three straight following an eight-point loss to league-leading Riverside on Jan. 6. Colville’s Dallis Martin tossed in a team-high 14 points.

Newport 55, Chewelah 39: Johnathan Lyon scored 14 points and Ty McDaniel added 12 as the Grizzlies (7-6, 2-5) used a hot start to get past the host Cougars (1-12, 0-7). Chewelah’s Liam Brock tallied a team-high 12 points.

Great Northern

Pullman 73, East Valley 50: Micah Lagerquist made 9 of 12 field goals and 4 of 5 free throws and finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds as the Greyhounds (11-2, 4-1) routed the visiting Knights (4-9, 1-4). It was Pullman’s third straight win after a blowout-loss to Clarkston on Jan. 9. The Greyhounds’ Jake Cillay added 12 points and James Miles chipped in 11. Pullman sank nine 3s, compared to just two for East Valley. The Knights’ Tanner Jacobs tossed in a team-high 11 points.

Intermountain

Kellogg 52, Bonners Ferry 30: Tucker Gust scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds and Gus Colburn added eight assists and six boards as the Wildcats (9-2, 2-0) pulled away in the second half and beat the visiting Badgers. Kellogg had a one-point lead after the first quarter before expanding its lead to 23-15 at halftime. The Wildcats pulled away from the Badgers with a 19-6 edge in the fourth quarter. Wyatt Nelson led Bonners Ferry with 13 points.

Northeast 2B

Liberty 86, Reardan 64: Match Burnham and Clay Fleming had outstanding games in leading the Lancers (14-1, 9-0) past the visiting Indians (7-7, 4-5). Burnham scored 27 points and grabbed 20 rebounds and Fleming had 29 points and 10 boards. Liberty held a commanding 51-17 rebounding advantage and came away with 16 second-chance points. For Reardan, Dan Peone had 24 points and Brandon Reuben added 22.

Southeast 1B

Pomeroy 72, St. John-Endicott 32: The Pirates (11-2, 6-1) pulled away with a 13-0 third-quarter run and dumped the Eagles (5-8, 2-5) in St. John. Pomeroy’s Jacob Tewalt scored 15 points and Tyson Feider added 14 points. The Pirates had a 31-13 rebounding advantage. St. John-Endicott’s Robert Staples tallied a team-high eight points.

Garfield-Palouse 75, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 6: Tyler Thurman scored 18 points and Matt Holbrook added 11 as the Vikings (13-0, 8-0) routed the host Tigercats. Garfield-Palouse outscored LWK 41-0 in the first quarter.

Nonleague

Cusick 81, Odessa-Harrington 73: The Panthers (8-5) sunk five fourth-quarter 3-pointers and held on to beat the visiting Titans (6-7). Alec Bluff’s big night (31 points, nine rebounds and eight assists) powered Cusick. Three Odessa-Harrington players scored in double digits: Sam Schafer (22), Shane Whitaker (21) and Carsen Weber (20).

Springdale 70, Inchelium 55: Kris Peters scored 21 points, John Lynch had 16 and Justyn Newell added 12 as the Chargers (6-9) snapped a four-game skid with a win over the visiting Hornets (1-8). Inchelium’s Quentin Holford led all scorers with 24 points.

Republic 69, Columbia 40: Taylor Campbell scored 22 points to guide the Tigers (7-5) past the visiting Lions (0-12). After a competitive first quarter, Republic outscored Columbia 21-7 in the second and 25-6 in the third to pull away. The Tigers’ Aaron Fritts added 14 points and six assists and Trevor Remien chipped in 13 points. Columbia’s J.R. Steele tallied a team-best 20 points.

Wellpinit 65, Curlew 60: Cedric Bowen scored 20 points and McKennon Andrews added 10 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds as the Redskins (10-3) surged late and beat the visiting Cougars (10-4). Wellpinit outscored Curlew 23-16 in the fourth to seal the win. Curlew’s Colby Grumback scored 19 points and Daniel Tresham added 17.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 43, Selkirk 30: Payton Nielsen scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and the Warriors (11-2) made 11 of 15 fourth-quarter free throws to get past the Rangers (6-5) in Coulee City. Dallas Isaak added 10 points for Almira/Coulee-Hartline, which led 19-9 at halftime. Selkirk’s Dominic Cain tossed in a team-high 12 points.

Northport 60, Valley Christian 28: Vithor Martin scored 20 points and Henry Lee and Lino Bell added 12 apiece as the Mustangs (6-6) dumped the visiting Panthers (2-9).
