Toxic algae found on Lake Washington
SEATTLE – Health officials are warning people to watch out for toxic algae recently found along some shorelines on Lake Washington.
They say the algae could be dangerous for humans and animals. The blue-green scum could make people and animals sick and be fatal to dogs if they ingest large quantities of the water.
Public health officials said the generally mild weather this fall extended the algae-growing season. The King County Environmental Laboratory found dangerous concentrations at Arrowhead Point in Kenmore, Mercer Island, Magnuson Park and Gene Coulon Park in Renton.
