Girls basketball: East Valley remains perfect in GNL action
Hannah Burland led three players in double figures with 12 points and added six rebounds and four steals as East Valley rallied after halftime and kept its perfect Great Northern League record intact with a 47-41 win over Pullman on Tuesday at East Valley.
Skylar Bastin added 11 points and Jordan Phelan chipped in seven points and 12 rebounds for the Knights, which outscored the Greyhounds (9-8, 5-4) 13-4 in the final quarter.
Pullman’s Emily Drake made 8 of 10 free throws and finished with 20 points and six boards.
East Valley (15-2, 9-0) has nine straight wins.
Clarkston 57, Cheney 39: Charlie Dimke led a balanced attack with 12 points and the Bantams (6-10, 4-5) pulled away in the second half and beat the Blackhawks (5-12, 0-9) in Cheney. Riley Denton, Jaclyn Meyers and Sequoia Swan all added nine points for Clarkston, which outscored Cheney 13-4 in the final quarter. The Blackhawks’ Kayla Lemelin scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
Intermountain
Timberlake 43, Priest River 33: Payten Rhodes scored seven of her 11 points in the fourth quarter and the Tigers (15-2, 5-0) topped the host Spartans (12-5, 2-2). Katlyn Summers had 16 points and 11 rebounds for Priest River.
Bonners Ferry 55, Kellogg 36: Jasmine Hill scored 14 points and Savannah Woods added 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Badgers (8-7, 1-3) defeated the visiting Wildcats (6-6, 1-4). Kellogg’s Janet Lo led all scorers with 15 points.
Northeast A
Chewelah 45, Colville 42: Kara Frederick scored 13 points and Kaitlin Krouse added 10 as the Cougars (8-8, 7-3) held on late to defeat the visiting Cougars (7-9, 6-4). The Indians’ Megan Lee tallied a game-high 17 points.
Lakeside 62, Newport 25: Jocelyn Cook-Cox led a balanced offensive attack with 14 points and the Eagles (15-1, 10-0) dominated from the outset in an easy win over the Grizzlies (3-12, 2-7) in Nine Mile Falls. Stefanie Marikis added 11 points for Lakeside, which built a 27-point first-half lead. Hadley Stratton led Newport with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Riverside 44, Freeman 39: Julianna Trepanier hit 11 of 14 free throws and scored 18 points and the Rams (6-8, 5-4) edged the visiting Scotties (4-12, 4-6). Hayley Pace added 12 points for Riverside. Freeman’s Cassidy Crosswhite and Isabelle Miller combined for 23 points.
Medical Lake 36, Deer Park 28: Cassidy Hagel tossed in a game-high 19 points and the Cardinals (5-11, 4-6) outlasted the Stags (0-16, 0-10) in Deer Park. Destanne Sunchild tallied a team-high 11 points for Deer Park.
Northeast 2B
Davenport 60, Springdale 30: Meika Heath scored 15 points as the Gorillas (11-7, 8-5) dominated from the outset in an easy win over the visiting Chargers (6-12, 1-12). The Chargers’ Shallon Crossley led all scorers with 16 points.
Northwest Christian 45, Wilbur-Creston 25: Courtney Gray had 18 points and eight rebounds and the Crusaders (17-1, 12-1) opened the game on a 21-3 run in an easy win over the visiting Wildcats (6-12, 3-10). Rachel Bozlee added eight points and seven rebounds for Northwest Christian.
Colfax 67, Liberty 27: Amara Huber and Carmen Gfeller scored 11 points apiece and the Bulldogs (15-3, 12-0) dumped the visiting Lancers (9-10, 4-9). Andra Hamilton added 10 points and nine rebounds for Colfax.
Reardan 56, Kettle Falls 43: Maddie Johnson scored 17 points and Kamille Langford and Michelle Tinsley added 10 apiece as the Indians (12-6, 8-5) topped the visiting Bulldogs (8-10, 4-9). The win was Reardan’s second in its past six games following a five-game win streak. Kettle Falls’ Daisy Hamilton tallied a team-high 16 points.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 56, Tekoa-Rosalia 29: Peyton Curtis made 9 of 10 free throws and scored 15 points to lead the Broncos (14-3, 9-3) past the Timberwolves (7-10, 3-10) in Rosalia. LRS won the rebounding battle 37-20. Hannah Beach led T-O with 11 points, five rebounds and five steals.
Southeast 1B
Oakesdale 43, Garfield-Palouse 34: Logan Reed scored 14 points and Tatiana Mendoza added 10 points and seven rebounds as the Nighthawks (11-4, 8-2) surged after halftime and beat the Vikings (2-13, 2-9) in Garfield. Keely Burnes led Garfield-Palouse with 14 points.
Nonleague
Post Falls 63, Moscow 43: Melody Kempton scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and the Trojans (15-5) eased past the visiting Bears (3-8). Bayley Brennan added 13 points, including three 3-pointers, for Post Falls.
Selkirk 35, Clark Fork 23: Hannah Rick scored 16 points and Lexi Ellsworth added nine points and 10 rebounds as the Rangers (6-9) dominated through three quarters before letting up late in an easy win over the shorthanded Wampus Cats in Ione. Clark Fork’s Leslie Kiebert tallied a team-high 12 points for Clark Fork, which managed just four points through the first three quarters.
