NFL notes: Richard Sherman’s girlfriend says Seahawks cornerback will play in Super Bowl

Associated Press

Richard Sherman’s pregnant girlfriend told a TV station that the Seahawks cornerback will play in Super Bowl XLIX.

Ashley Moss, who is due on Feb. 12, told Seattle’s NBC affiliate she is not expecting to deliver the baby – already determined to be a boy – until after the game.

Sherman said he doesn’t expect to have to make the choice between the birth of his first child and playing in the Super Bowl, but has a plan in place if it comes to it. He did not expressly rule out the possibility of missing the Super Bowl.

“That’s up to Richard,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Friday. “When our players have a personal family issue that comes up, it’s always about the family first and they have to decide what’s best for them, and I support that.”

Chancellor falls but probable for game

Strong safety Kam Chancellor was added to the Seahawks’ injury report.

Chancellor fell near the goal line on the second-to-last play of Friday’s practice. He walked off the field without a limp, but left the practice facility with a wrap on his left knee.

Pot charge dropped against Blount

Prosecutors dropped a marijuana charge against New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount that stemmed from an August arrest with former Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Le’Veon Bell.

Chargers hire Nolan as linebackers coach

The San Diego Chargers hired former San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Nolan as linebackers coach.

Nolan coached the 49ers from 2005 until being fired after a 2-5 start in 2008.
