Associated Press

STANTON, Del. – Calamity Kate, sent off at odds of 54-1, led the whole way, had enough left to hold off Peace and War for a stunning upset in the Grade III $300,000 Delaware Oaks on Saturday. The field included pro-tem division leader Lovely Maria.

Ridden by Edgar Prado, Calamity Kate went to the front right at the start of the mile-and-a-sixteenth race.

Hip Hop N Jazz finished third, a length ahead of Bar of Gold. The time on a fast track was 1:41.6
