Indian Canyon has new course record

Derek Barron did something on Wednesday no other golfer, including the late, great Sam Snead, had done before at Indian Canyon Golf Course. Barron, a golf professional out of the Tacoma Golf Center, shot a course-record 59 during the pro-am portion of the Rosauers Open. He shot a 28 on the front nine and a 31 on the back to beat the previous record of 61, held by several others. Joel Dahmen was the last to card a 61 – about 10 years ago – and current Indian Canyon pro Gary Lindeblad accomplished the feat a couple of years before Dahmen. Snead held the course-record at 63 in the early 1940s. Indian Canyon has been open for 80 years.
