Obituary: Burch, Patricia Jean

Age 90

BURCH, Patricia Jean (Age 90) Patricia Jean (Simmons) Burch passed away June 19, 2015 at age 90 of natural causes.

Born, December 11, 1924 in Wilcox, WA to Jerry Alonza Simmons and Ruth Eliza (Morgan) Simmons.

Patricia “Pat” was the seventh of nine children.

She grew up in small towns in Eastern WA and Northern Idaho and attended school in Tensed, ID.

Pat married Harry A. Burch in 1942 and had one son Gary.

They lived in Tensed and Potlatch, ID, Libby, MT and settled in Greenacres, WA in 1952.

In the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, Pat was a “stay-at-home” mom and part-time employee for Volunteers of America.

Pat also found time to raise horses, give riding lessons, train and race thorough-bred horses.

She was quite successful at these ventures.

In the 1980’s Pat and Harry moved to Veradale, WA.

Harry passed away in 1993 and Pat remained in the family home until 2005 when she moved to Portland, OR to be close to her son.

She is survived by her son, Gary (Mary); her one remaining sister, Shirley Rhimer; granddaughter, Kristina Andrews (John); and great-grandsons, Drew and Erik Weber; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends she acquired over her 90 years.

At her request, there will be no service.

There will be a small, informal gathering on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Pines Cemetery, 1402 S. Pines, Spokane Valley.
