Obituary: Burke, Leona Mae
She is the dear mother and mother-in-law of Kimberley and David Newberg of Deer Park and Wylie Burke of Bremerton, Washington.
Leona’s love of 24 years Donald Kjos of Deer Park.
She enjoyed 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Burke was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Burke, in 1987, and her son, Matthew Burke, in 1964.
Born in 1935 in Towner, McHenry County North Dakota, to Oscar and Zena Tonnessen.
She was raised on her family’s farm, with five brothers and two sisters.
She attended Towner Grade School and graduated from Towner High School.
She had an avid love for antiques, and had been a grief counselor with Hospice.
Services honoring Mrs. Burke will be at 2:00 P.M., on Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Open Door Congregational Church in Deer Park with Rev.
Dr. Daniel N. Berg officiating.
A service will also be held on Bainbridge Island August 2, 2015.
