Obituary: Logan, Delbert Reece

Age 93

LOGAN, Delbert Reece Delbert Reece Logan was born March 18, 1922 in Spokane, WA to Reece J. Logan and Mildred Crowther Logan.

He passed away in Hospice House at age 93 on July 12, 2015.

Delbert grew up in Spokane and after graduating from high school joined the CCC’s serving in Alaska.

He then joined the U.S. Navy serving in the 5th Special Construction Battalion in Guam and other South Pacific islands.

After discharge from the Navy, Delbert married Peggy Foster in 1947.

Together they raised her daughter, Victoria Lynn Logan.

Peggy passed away February 10, 1986.

On September 13, 1986, Delbert married Effie Emma Chezik of Kennewick, WA.

Together they enjoyed 21 years of marriage.

They spent many of those years as snowbirds in Yuma, AZ.

One of their favorite pastimes in Yuma was selling at the swap meets where they made many new friends.

During the rest of the year they lived in the Sans Souci Mobile Home Park in Spokane where Delbert’s favorite hobby was working in his flower gardens.

Delbert worked at Interpace Corp. (Mica Brick Plant) in Mica, WA as a kiln burner for 40 years and he never missed a day of work.

Delbert is preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Willis Logan; sister, Ruth Osborne; and his younger brother, Everett Logan.

He also is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Peggy Foster Logan, his 2nd wife, Effie Chezik Logan on April 15, 2008; his stepdaughter, Victoria Melhus; and his step granddaughter, Stephanie Marie Melhus.

He is survived by his step-grandson, Christopher Melhus (wife Kelli) and sons, Ethan and Jacob; Effie’s daughter Yvonne and Don Woelber, and sons, Ronald and Phyllis Chezik, Charles and Ann Chezik and Kenneth and Nanette Chezik.

Also surviving is his companion of several years, Erna Stecher.

Memorial Services will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 1 pm.
