Obituary: Barthell, Robert L., Jr. “Bob”

Age 71

BARTHELL, Robert L., Jr. “Bob” July 9, 1944 - July 20, 2015 Bob was born in Spokane, WA on July 9th, 1944.

He passed away at the age of 71 on July 20th, 2015.

He was a lifelong resident of Spokane and attended Emerson Grade School and graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1962.

He drove for Husky Oil for eight years and then for Safeway Stores for 23 years before retiring June 6, 1997.

Bob received numerous safe driving awards from Safeway, including recognition of “One Million Miles” safe driving.

Bob married his high school sweetheart, Diane Rogers, in 1966 and they recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on April 16th of this year.

They raised two sons, Christopher and Jason.

Bob enjoyed many years at Priest Lake, ID with family and friends fishing, boating, and snowmobiling, as well as hunting and fishing on the Snake River.

He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching football, especially the Seattle Seahawks.

Bob is survived by his wife Diane; son Chris and daughter-in-law Toni, son Jason and daughter-in-law Stephanie; and grandchildren Cassie, Brandon, Alec, and Josh.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital, on 7 North, for the excellent care he received, especially from Margit and Jake.

Additionally they would also like to thank Fr.

Stan Malnar, M.D.

for the comfort he provided to the family at the end of Bob’s illness.

There will be no service at Bob’s request.
